Abstract

746.851. Thermal switches. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. June 14, 1954 [June 23, 1953], No. 17319/53. Class 38(5) A heat-controlled electric iron has a bimetal element secured to the sole plate and its contacts secured to the handle. The bimetal 16 -has an upturned end 19 cooperating with a lever 28 pivoted between two collars 30 on a rod 31 which may be adjustable by a cam formed on a knob as in Specification 746,836. The free end of lever 28 carries an insulating block 35 formed with a groove 36 co-operating with the operating member 27 of a tri-furcated contact-carrying snap spring 9. The latter is secured to a part 11 of the handle 3 and projects through an opening 20 into the housing 2 of the iron.
