Abstract

744,602. Soil-stabilising apparatus. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Jan. 6, 1954 [Oct. 9, 1952], No. 25355/52. Class 68(1) [Also in Group XXX] In a soil - stabilizing apparatus cement is delivered from a hopper 28a to a screw conveyer 27 extending through a fixed axle 6, which is adjustably supported from a vehicle chassis and about which rotates an excavating rotor 5, to a hopper 28b. Cement discharges from the hub 6 through a slot 29 extending throughout the length thereof into the chambers 32 of a rotor 31 of a metering means. The speed of rotation of the rotor 31 and thence the rate of discharge of cement is related to the speed of rotation of the rotor 5 through suitable gearing, and the cement from the metering means is discharged through an adjustable nozzle 30 on to the soil, which is broken up and carried forwardly and then rearwardly over the rotor 5. Cement in excess of metered requirements is delivered by the conveyer 27 to the hopper 28b. In another construction of apparatus the cement delivery equipment is omitted. The rotor 5 consists of a number of blades 12 extending between aligned slots formed in the peripheries of discs 10 disposed along the axle 6.
