Abstract

1513115 Down metering apparatus FROSTLINE Inc 11 Sept 1976 37731/76 Heading B8N An apparatus for metering down for filling packets 12 comprises a perforated cylinder 38 into which down is sucked by vacuum applied outside the cylinder, a hopper 10 from which the down is supplied and a plunger 36 to eject the down after removal of the vacuum. The cylinder is closed by a gate 60 which is opened after the cylinder has been filled. An air jet 112 is applied after the plunger has been advanced to blow down back to the hopper. A larger air jet 118 is used to remove stubborn down pads behind the plunger. The amount metered is variable by changing the vacuum, the time the vacuum is applied or by adjustment of a baffle 84 outside the cylinder.
