588,154. Rotary pumps. COLLINS, J.N. Dec. 15, 1944, No, 25162. [Class 110 (ii)] [Also in Group XXX] In apparatus for feeding granular or farinaceous material, particularly where the material is fed to or discharged from a hopper and the flow line has to be maintained under suction or pressure, the material is delivered to the inlet of a flexible tube of elliptical crosssection disposed in a drum-like casing and fed through the tube by a rotor in the casing which distorts and nips the tube periodically to form a closed pocket. In the embodiment shown, material is delivered to a rubber tube b of flattened elliptical cross-section in a casing a, the tube being squeezed periodically at two points by rollers e on the arms d of a rotor mounted on a driven shaft c.
