Abstract
743,929. Ball bearings. EISENWERK ROTHE ERDE GES. May 29, 1953, No. 15018/53. Class 12 (1). [Also in Groups XXI and XXX] A slewing pivot for a crane, excavator, swing bridge or the like comprises a revolvable component 5, Fig. 1, or 5a, Fig. 2, on which is machined a spur gear 10 or 10a, and a pair of fixed rings 7a, 7b or 7c, 7d secured together by bolts or screws 8 and formed with inclined faces which co-operate with faces formed on a collar 6 on the fixed member 5 or 5a to form a pair of ball races 1, 2. The surfaces of the ball races of one bearing are substantially at right angles to those of the other bearing as illustrated so as to retain the revolvable component in position. The bearing surfaces of the bearings are hardened and each ball is mounted in a separate cage 9 which may comprise a ring cut from a tube and which is held in correct alignment by shoulders 3 on the races.
