Abstract

485,822. Gun platforms. AKTIEBOLAGET BOFORS, HAMMAR, V., ALDRIN, H. W., and DAHLBACK, G. Aug. 16, 1937, No. 22447. [Class 92 (i)] Relates to levelling devices for gun platforms of the kind in which the platform 1 is supported on a circular race 14 itself supported on a second circular race 2 arranged at right-angles to the first and carried on a base member 3. According to the invention, the turning axes of the two races are located in the same plane, the point of intersection of the axes being located on the trunnion axis P of the gun or guns. In the form shown, the races are arranged on each side of the platform parts and include ribs such as 4, 5 embraced by rollers such as 7, 8. Lateral rollers such as 9 are also provided for each race. Adjustment is effected by rotating shafts 20, 12 carrying pinions 19, 11 for engagement with toothed sectors 18, 10 respectively. Adjustment may be effected either by hand or by motors distantly controlled by gyroscopic means.
