Abstract
A flux composition for use in the gas welding of high nickel heat resistant alloys consists of calcium fluoride in admixture with at least one alkali metal silicate. The preferred constituent and proportions are calcium fluoride 39-50 per cent by weight and sodium silicate 50-51 per cent by weight. The flux may be used in the dry powder form or as a paste by the addition of an inert liquid such as water, and in the paste form may be combined with a filler rod either as a coating, a core or both.
