Abstract
A flux-coated electrode for arc welding a 70 per cent copper aluminium-bronze contains 1 1/2 to 8 per cent of the weight of the rod of manganese and/or silicon, pure or as an alloy in the silicate-bound, fluoride flux coating. A simple rod contains 9 per cent aluminium and remainder copper, and the coating therefor comprises manganese 0-20 parts, silicon carbide 0-15 parts, limestone 15-25 parts, cryolite 50-70 parts, with a potassium silicate binder. A complex rod contains 2-6 per cent manganese, 9 per cent aluminium, 4 per cent iron and remainder copper, and its flux coating contains chiefly fluorides with an alkali silicate binder.
