Abstract
A fluxing material coated on a refractory ferrule for surrounding the end of the stud in stud welding comprises: aluminium powder 10 parts by weight, potassium oxalate 3 parts by weight, gold size 1 part by volume, mineral turpentine 3 1/2 parts by volume. The gold size, which may be diluted with white hard spirit varnish, is dissolved in the turpentine and the aluminium and potassium oxalate are added thereto. Alloying materials and cleansing agents, e.g. silicates, fluorides and titanates, may be added to the fluxing material. Specification 787,827 is referred to.
