Abstract

645,958. Uniting by fusion. MOND NICKEL CO., Ltd. Feb. 25, 1948, No. 5668. Convention date, Feb. 28, 1947. Addition to 621,936. [Class 83 (iv)] An arc welding electrode comprises a core containing 40 to 75 per cent nickel, preferably 60 per cent, alloyed with iron and minor amounts of deoxidizers and impurities, e.g. carbon, manganese, silicon, copper, titanium and magnesium, together with a coating as claimed in the parent Specification and comprising by weight 45 to 85 parts slag-forming materials, 10 to 30 parts carbon, 0.25 to 2.5 parts titanium alloy, 0 to 30 parts iron powder; and a binder, the carbon being such that the weld contains 0.9 to 1.3 per cent graphitic carbon.
