Class 110(3) A motor power plant comprises a supercharged diesel engine, having a comparatively low compresion ratio which is supercharged by a rotary compressor driven by a turbine fed with' the engine exhaust gases, and an air motor on the engine power output shaft supplied with air from the rotary compressor. The diesel engine a is supercharged by a compressor b through a cooler c. The engine exhaust gases are supplied to a turbine d which drives the compressor b. The compressor b also supplies air, which may be at a pressure above or below the supercharging pressure, to an air motor e on the engine output shaft.
