Abstract
742,512. Ash-blowing equipment. BOLTON'S SUPERHEATER & PIPE WORKS, Ltd., and GRAY, T. F. Aug. 26, 1954 [Aug. 26, 1953], No. 23534/53. Class 51 (1). An ash-blowing equipment for a Lancashire type steam boiler having ash-blowing nozzles within the boiler at the bottom of the boiler furnace flues and also at the bottom of the boiler downtakes, with a common control valve for the steam supply to all the nozzles, is characterized in that such valve is opened through a hand pull which when released allows the valve to close, there being a tell tale device which when the valve is open gives an indication that the nozzles are in operation. The boiler flues b, c (b not shown) and downtakes f of the Lancashire boiler shown are provided with ash-blowing nozzles a, e respectively, a single valve g controlling the steam supply to them. The valve is opened by operating a hand pull i and cable j, the whistle or tell tale device h, the steam supply to which is also controlled by the valve, preventing the fact that the nozzles are in action from being overlooked. Release of the hand pull closes the valve. The nozzles may be as in Specification 616,598.
