[Class 51 (i)] In a boiler furnace or the like, turbulence is produced by a nozzle 5 injecting through an opening 4, a stream of air or steam from a pressure chamber 6 and the injector action is used to entrain air, combustion products or a mixture of both through a passage 7 within the wall 3 of the furnace, which passage is connected to the atmosphere and to the combustion chamber by lateral passages 8, 9 controlled by a valve 10. The valve may be a rotary valve allowing the upper end of the passage 7 to be closed. A row of injectors may be fitted.
