Abstract
512,080. Injectors. DAVIES & METCALFE, Ltd. (Superheater Co.). May 24, 1938, No. 15444. [Class 71] In an exhaust steam injector having a supplementary high pressure steam supply 28, the moisture content of the high pressure steam is increased by introduction of water thereto. The moisture content may be up to 65 per cent. of the weight of the steam. Water is taken from the boiler at 44 and passes through a valve 52 opened by the steam, pressure, and thence through a nozzle 56 into the steam supply. Alternatively, the water may be supplied to the throat of a venturi tube through which the steam passes. The steam and water control valves 30, 46 may be interconnected, and preferably so arranged that the water valve opens first. The exhaust steam supply may be replaced by live steam from supply 28 passing through a choke and passage 36 controlled by a valve 38 to the exhaust steam chamber 14.
