Smoke, consuming; grates.-Smoke is diverted from the main flue F by a jet B of superheated steam, and conveyed into a mixing-chamber D located among the fire-bars of the furnace. A further quantity of steam is supplied to the chamber by a jet N, and the mixture escapes through slits into the fire.
