Abstract

740,910. Drafting textile fibres; roving guides. T.M.M. (RESEARCH), Ltd. Feb. 10, 1954 [Feb. 10, 1953], No. 3710/53. Classes 120 (1) and 120 (2). A non-rotating condenser for drafting apparatus is shaped to impart to a strand an arcuate cross-sectional formation, to preserve this formation throughout the effective length of the condenser and to deliver the strand in that form. The condenser preferably comprises a small onepiece moulding, pressing or stamping of plastic or other material and is provided with an upright column A for mounting on a traverse bar. Through the body B is formed a passage having concentric lower and upper surfaces C, D and rounded sides E. The transverse dimension of the passage is reduced in the direction of the exit orifice and a bell-mouthed entrance opens into the passage. A threading slot J is provided. Preferably, the condenser is located in a neutral zone between two drafting zones with the lower surface C slightly above the plane containing the nips of the roller pairs immediately preceding and succeeding. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 676,435.
