Abstract

740,687. Winding-machine control means. REINERS, W. Nov. 27, 1951 [Nov. 29, 1950], No. 27785/51. Addition to 740,685. Classes 120 (2) and 120 (3). The method of supervising the running of winding-machines disclosed in the parent Specification is modified in that an increased tension is temporarily applied to the thread after completion of the knot to check the efficiency of the thread-tying device. As shown the disc 35 which revolves once during a threadtying operation as explained in the parent Specification allows, after completion of the knot, the lever 125, 126 to pivot at 127 and thus engage contacts 128 and 136. This completes an electric circuit containing electromagnets 135 and 124. Electromagnet 135 pivots the lever 139 and 140 thus increasing the tension on the thread between supports 142 and 143. At the same time electromagnet 124 increases the pressure between the package 3 and the driving drum 2. A variable resistance 132 allows the amount of increased tension to be adjusted. Should the knot fail due to the increased tension the feeler 7 will cause a thread-tying failure to be registered in the manner explained in the parent Specification.
