Abstract

A traverse winder producing satisfactory packages from all kinds and gauges of yarns on flanged bobbins is arranged to superimpose an ancillary traverse on the main traverse. Both traverses may be driven by one motor for single point winding, whilst in machines with a number of winding stations, the ancillary traverse which is fully adjustable may be centrally controlled. A safety arrangement ensures automatic braking of the full yarn package before it is lifted pneumatically from the driving roller against which it is held during winding at constant pressure by a further air cylinder.
