Abstract
740,628. Endless conveyers. REDLER CONVEYORS, Ltd. April 28, 1954 [Jan. 30, 1953], No. 2777/53. Class 78 (1). The flights of an en-masse conveyer having a return run above a conveying run include downwardly-facing pockets adapted to scoop up residual material as they pass around the terminal 14 beyond the discharge opening in the conveyer trunk, and carry it back along the return run. In one form, Figs. 2 and 5, crossbars 27 of inverted U form closed at their ends are carried between a pair of parallel chains, extensions 30 of the cross-bars forming the pivotal connection between adjacent links 28 of each chain and having a keyway (not shown) to lock them with the rear bifurcated end 29 of one link. In other forms described a single chain forms the tension member with flights of inverted U form projecting laterally from either side of each link and closed at their ends. The flights may be provided with an upstanding pin 43, Fig. 8, to allow a scraping action on the return run. In a further embodiment (not shown) flights of U-form are disposed on either side of the links with the flanges of the U straddling the rear pivot pin 46 so as to reach as far as possible into the accumulated material around sprocket 14. The flanges may extend in a forward inclination of less than 45 degrees to the vertical. One of the flanges may carry brushes to sweep the interior of the trunk.
