Abstract
740,572. Transformers and inductors. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. May 14, 1953 [May 16, 1952], No. 13531/53. Class 38 (2). A clamping and mounting bracket for a laminated magnetic core and coil assembly 2, 3, 4 comprises a pair of oppositely disposed channel-shaped clamping elements 6, 10 which respectively clamp oppositely disposed legs of the magnetic core 2, 3, with a mounting bracket 20, 21, 22 positioned between the clamping elements and secured thereto with a plane substantially parallel to the plane of the laminations of the core but spaced from the core by a distance greater than that by which the coil 4 projects from the core. The core is made up of two stacks 2, 3 of " E "-shaped laminations which are butted together or alternatively arranged with an air gap between the centre leg portions, the clamping members 6, 10 being divided by slots 14, 15 respectively so as to permit each half of an outer leg to be clamped independently, thus allowing for differences in heights of the two stacks of laminations. The clamping elements 6, 10 and the mounting bracket 20, 21, 22 may be formed integrally from a single piece of material. This construction also forms protection for the leads 24 from the coil 4.
