Abstract

739,575. Hose couplings. UNITED STATES RUBBER CO. June 28, 1954 [Sept. 3, 1953], No. 18868/54. Class 99 (1). An elastic rubber sleeve 13 for coupling a corrugated elastic rubber hose 12 to, for example, a pipe provided on a vacuum cleaner, has a passageway 14 to accommodate and frictionally grip the pipe and a number of circumferential, spaced, parallel grooves 16, 17 into which extend individual corrugations 18, 19 of an end portion of the hose. There may be an internal shoulder 26 to limit the extent of entry of the pipe into the sleeve.
