Abstract
738,408. Shuttle stop-motions for looms. CRAIG & CO., Ltd., A. F. Dec. 31, 1953 [Jan. 21, 1953], No. 1783/53. Class 142(2). When a shuttle fails to box, a member 54 is not moved by the swell and the driving motor is detached, a brake applied, and springs compressed to check the loom. Failure of the shuttle to box, causes a pawl 53 to remain in a lower position and to engage a shoulder on a boss 32 on an arm 31 connected by members 27, 30 to a trigger 25 and thereby release the handle 18. Release of the handle operates an air valve to remove the air supply from a clutch and admit air to a pneumatically controlled brake. Immediately after the pawl has engaged the shoulder on the boss 32, the pawl, and a second pawl at the other side of the loom, each simultaneously engage shoulders on bosses on arms 35 and partly rotate the arms whereby springs 39 are compressed and, acting as shock absorbers, check the loom. When the rod 18 is moved to the " on " position, the trigger 25 is automatically reset.
