Abstract

587,670. Loom stop-motions. SMITH, F. L., and SHACKLETON, G. W. Sept. 3, 1943, No. 14390. [Class 142 (i)] A weft stop motion for looms operable either manually or by a weft feeler has the starting handle 16 held in the driving position by a starting handle release catch 10 engaged by a lever 10x fixed on a spindle 9 to which also is fixed a lever 14 controlling, through a vertical rod 13, a brake lever release catch 7. When weft is absent a. tongue 15 is raised to rock the levers 10x and 14 to release the starting handle 16 and the catch 7. A brake lever 6 falls to apply brake shoes 1 to a flywheel 2 upon release of the supporting catch 7. The starting handle 16 is not connected to the brake lever 6 and to restart the loom the lever 6 is raised by a handle lever 17 and the handle 16 set separately. The handle. 16 may carry a projection to move the lever 17 so that it does not support the brake lever 6 in the weaving position.
