Abstract

738,019. Inspection lamps. BLAGDEN & CO., Ltd., V., and WALDE, R. S. Oct. 2, 1953 [Nov. 28, 1952], No. 30251/52. Class 75 (4). A lamp for inspecting the interiors of drums or like spaces having a small inspection opening comprises a fluorescent tube 11 encased in a transparent plastic tube 13 fitted on the end 21 of an inspection rod. The tube 11 is preferably of about half an inch in diameter and eight inches long and has a terminal cap at each end, the outer cap 12 being connected by leads 16, 17 to a starter switch contained in a unit 18 adjacent the base 14 receiving the other lamp terminal. The base 14 is threaded into a socket in the end 21 of the inspection rod which is of opaque plastic material or metal and contains supply leads 25 having terminal contacts 23, 24 for engaging a contact pip 19 and the tubular side contact of the starter switch. The inspection may be a little over 2 feet long and provided with a rubber grip and a supply lead connecting with a switch box containing a choke and having connections for an alternating current supply, or with a box containing a reversing switch and a high-tension battery.
