The arrangement described in the parent Specification is modified in that the slot 17 is, at each side, extended beyond the location of the pivot 3 connecting the folding frames 1, 2 and the forward end of the slot 17 is shaped by curving upwardly, as at 18, the lower member 14 of the slot 17. In addition, a hump or ramp-like surface 19 is provided, the parts 18, 19 serving as the chair frames 1, 2 are folded to cause the cross-rail 13 of the strut 11 to approach the upper member 2 of the slot. In a modification wherein the members bordering the slot 27 are made of wood, the upper member of the slot is also curved upwardly as at 31 at the front end, the hump 29 and curved pad 30 being also shown. Notches 15, 16 are provided for adjustment of the relative positions of the frames 1, 2.
