Abstract

737,197. Wet spinning of yarns. MACKIE & SONS, Ltd., J. Jan. 29, 1954 [Feb. 18, 1953], No. 4603/53. Class 120(2). A ring spinning frame for flax and other bast fibres is provided with a water supply, such as pipes 16, 17, permitting water to drop on to drawing rollers 3, 4, 5, 6 to clean both them and the fibres being drafted and is further provided with a shield 20 covering the front of the space between the thread guide 7 and the ring 11, the rollers 3, 4, 5, 6 being so disposed that water dropping in front of the thread guide 7 falls onto the shield 20 and passes from there into a drain channel 23. Water falling onto the plate 25 rearwardly of the thread guide 7 may be led into a second drain channel 26. A gum solvent may be added to the water and a fabric-covered roller 18 frictionally driven by the roller 5 may assist the flow of water around the latter roller: Specifications . 722,807 and 728,595 are referred to.
