Abstract

736,931. Automatic speed and voltage control systems. SIEMENS-SCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.-GES. Aug. 20, 1953 [Aug. 20, 1952], No. 22990/53. Class 38 (4). In an automatic control system in which a D.C. load is supplied from an A.C. source by bridge-connected rectifiers forming with saturable reactors a self-saturable magnetic amplifier, and in which the output voltage is compared with an adjustable D.C. reference voltage to control the amplifier, the control current is passed through the main A.C. windings of the amplifier instead of through separate control windings. As shown, the armature 1 of a D.C. motor is supplied from an A.C. source 7, 8 by the magnetic amplifier 2. A reference voltage is obtained from rectifier 19 and applied to resistors 11, 23. Across resistor 23 also appears a compounding component derived from current transformer 21 in the main A.C. supply and a rectifier 22. The ends of the reactors 3, 4, remote from the motor armature, are also balance causes a D.C. current to circulate through the reactors to control the motor. A choke 24 may be included in the armature connections to improve stability. It is stated that the system is also applicable to the regulation of electric-lighting installations.
