Abstract

508,230. Converting ; automatic control systems. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET, and LAMM, U. Jan. 13, 1938, No. 3010. [Classes 38 (ii) and 38 (iv)] Two or more variables, such as the current and voltage in a converting arrangement, are regulated by means of a circuit comprising two branches, one branch has supplied to it through a rectifier bridge 3 a constant direct current, the other branch has supplied to it through rectifiers 7 and 9 direct currents proportional to the variables to be controlled. A regulator winding 16 is connected in parallel to the two branches and the circuit is such that this winding is traversed by the current difference between the currents in the two branches. The current in the branch containing the rectifiers 7, 9 is determined by the larger of the currents representing the variables. A rectifier element is provided in series with the winding 16 to prevent reverse currents flowing. In the system shown, for the regulation of a converter, the rectifier 7 is fed from a current transformer in the converter circuit and the rectifier 9 is fed from a supply of A.C. which is controlled by means of a saturable inductance 10 in dependence on the voltage in the rectifier circuit. The inductance 10 may also be provided with a winding 12 fed from a source of constant current and a winding 13 fed with current proportional to the load current to give compounding. Where the current representing the variable is already a direct current, it may be introduced into the control circuit as shown in Fig. 2, across a series connected rectifier 19.
