Abstract
771,472. Automatic voltage control systems. LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGS - GES. Nov. 5, 1952 [Nov. 5, 1951], No. 27908/52. Class 38 (4). In an automatic A.C. voltage control system of the type in which a saturable reactor is connected in series with the load and controlled in accordance with load voltage, and in which this voltage is detected by a non-linear resistance bridge the output of which is amplified by a self-saturating magnetic amplifier, it is stated that the highest value of the control current is so chosen that the operational range of the reactor lies between the linear unsaturated range and the saturated range of the magnetization curve. The load 12 is supplied from a source UN via an auto-transformer 1 and the reactor 2. The load voltage is rectified at 9 and applied to a bridge consisting of linear resistors 8 and rectifiers 7. The output of the bridge is amplified by the self-saturating magnetic amplifier 5 to control the reactor 2. A current component is obtained from the rectified output of a current transformer 13 and also applied to the amplifier 5 to effect current limiting. A three-phase version of the system is disclosed in Fig. 3 (not shown).
