Abstract

736,874. Delay networks. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and IMM, R. C. Dec. 22, 1953 [Jan. 7, 1953], No. 546/53. Class 40 (8). A linear network for the transmission of signals of the type consisting of a succession of time intervals in each of which there may be a pulse has a transient response such that upon application of a pulse the resulting overshoot in the output waveform after a period equal to one time interval is substantially the same as that after a period equal to two time intervals. The network may be as in Fig. 1 in which the resistor 3 has a resistance r, the coil 4 an inductance L, the capacitor 5 a capacity C and the resistor 6 a resistance R. The input voltage E may be supplied by a cathode follower and r may represent its output impedance. The resistance R is usually considerably greater than r. The Specification gives figures for a network in which there is no overshoot at the end of a period equal to one time interval, i.e. upon the occurrence of a step 13 in the input waveform 11 the output waveform 12 just reaches a value substantially equal to the level 14 after a period equal to one time interval. An overshoot 16 is produced after a time greater than this interval. Specification 706,687 is referred to.
