Abstract

674,522. Impedance networks. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Oct. 25, 1950 [Oct. 28, 1949], No. 26001/50. Class 40 (viii). A pulse widener consists of a four-terminal network comprising the series-combination of an open line section 2 and a short-circuited line section 1, the line sections being closed at their input ends by their surge impedances 4 and 3, and the closing resistance 4 of the open line section constituting the output resistance of the network. The input terminals are shown at 5 and 6. The electrical length of each line is such that twice. the delay period of each line is equal to the duration of the pulse supplied to the network for the purpose of widening. The section 2 by itself would produce a pulse which is twice the duration of the input pulse but the addition of line 1 is required to maintain the pulse rectangular. A number of networks may be placed in series to produce a greatly widened pulse.
