Abstract

491,359. Inductance and capacitance measurements. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Dec. 17, 1937, Nos. 35039 and 35040. Convention dates, Jan. 2, 1937 and May 4, 1937. [Class 37] [Also in Groups XL, XXXV, and XXXIX] A high frequency network comprises a closed loop conductor having two terminals connected by parallel paths of unequal length. When two loops 1619, 1621, Fig. 16, are used, their lengths can be adjusted to produce voltage anti-nodes at 1625, 1627 ; by a transposition as in Fig. 17, or by the introduction of a 2 length as in Fig. 21, the voltage anti-nodes may be changed to voltage nodes, so that a voltmeter at 1635 is unaffected. This may be used for measuring impedances the unknown and known variable impedances 1637, 1639, being connected symmetrically across the loops impedance 1639 being varied until the voltmeter gives a null reading, the two impedances then being equal. The impedances may be connected through transformers, Fig. 18 (not shown).
