Abstract
842,087. Impedance networks. BRITISH. THOMSON-HOUSTON CO. Ltd. Feb. 21, 1957 [March 14, 1956], No. 7991/56. Class 40(8). [Also in Group XXXVI] A circuit for producing a current output which is constant and independent of the load comprises a first reactance and a resistance R connected in series across an A.C. source V1 together with a positive reactance and a negative reactance connected in series across the resistance, the current output i2 being derived across one of the latter reactances, the numerical values of all the reactances being equal at the source frequency and the sign of the reactance across which the output is derived being the same as that of the first reactance. It can be shown that if the input voltage V1 is much larger than the output voltage V2, i2 depends entirely on V1, R and the fixed value of the reactances. If the resistance R is made variable the output current will vary linearly with its setting.
