736,761. Controlling vehicles. DAIMLERBENZ AKT.-GES. Nov. 4, 1953 [Nov. 4, 1952], No. 30496/53. Class 79(5). In a vehicle having a resiliently mounted engine, the accelerator linkage comprises a substantially transverse shaft 16 having an arm 17 connected to the accelerator pedal 19 and another arm 15 connected by a longitudinal linkage 12, 13, 14 to the throttle valve 10, the shaft being supported non-resiliently, or with only slight resilience, at one end and yieldably at the other end. In the preferred embodiment the shaft 16 is carried in bearings 23, 24 on the vehicle body, the bearing 23 including a rubber bush 231 and the bearing 24 being connected by a spring 26 to the body. The bearing 24 is also connected to the shaft 12 by a link 25. The arrangement is such that movement of the engine unit and throttle in the direction x relative to body is accommodated by horizontal pivotal movement of the shaft 16 about the bearing 23, which is arranged in the plane of the pedal 19, so that the valve 10 and plate 19 remain in the same relative positions. Movement of the engine unit in the direction z and y are also accommodated. Various modifications are described with relation to Figs. 2 to 7 (not shown).
