Abstract

500,835. Controlling motor vehicles. STANDARD MOTOR CO., Ltd., GRINHAM, E. G., and TURNER, W. R. Feb. 16, 1938, No. 4765. [Class 79 (v)] In a vehicle having an engine 1 resilientlymounted so that it can rock the accelerator pedal 4 is mounted on the vehicle and is connected to the throttle 2 or other engine control by a Bowden or equivalent twin-element flexible transmission 8, 9. Thus movements of the engine on its resilient supports do not tend to vary the opening of the throttle when the accelerator pedal is held in a stationary position. In the construction shown the pedal is pivoted at 5 on a bracket 6 which is secured to the dash 7 and carries an adjustable back stop 12 for the pedal.
