736,030. Artificial legs. VOKES ERNST SCIENTIFIC SURGICAL APPLIANCES, Ltd. Dec. 1, 1953 [Dec. 8, 1952], No. 31105/52. Class 81 (2). A knee joint which locks automatically in the straightened position of the leg has a pivotpin 5 secured to the shin portion 4 and carrying a collar 6 in which there is a tapered recess 7. In the straightened position of the knee this recess is engaged by the conical end of a spring- pressed bolt 9 mounted to move with the thigh portion 1. The bolt may be disengaged, for bending the knee, by downward pressure on a rod 15 and lever 10.
