Abstract

735,937. Two-part couplings. SIMMONDS & STOKES (NIPHAN), Ltd. June 10, 1953 [June 16, 1952], No. 15111/52. Class 38 (1). The two parts of a fluid-tight plug and socket coupling screw together, a washer 15 held in the plug part sealing the two parts. Insulating blocks 5, 6 are held in the plug casing 1 and the socket casing 2 by screw rings 10 and 14 respectively, or, in a modification by split-rings (Fig. 3, not shown). The earth connection between the earth pin and socket contacts and their respective casings is made by ribs such as 18c on the contacts, the latter being located and prevented from rotation by pins 24, 26 and being pressed into good contact with their casings by springs 28.
