A top roller carrier for a textile drawing frame comprises a carrier member and a bracket member one end of which embraces a pivotal support in the carrier member and which is shaped to constitute the lower support of the loading means and has on its lower face spring means for retaining a top roller shaft. A separate bracket may be provided for each top roller shaft. The carrier member 1, Fig. 1, may be channel-shaped and carries a pin 2 which is embraced by a saddle portion 3 of a bracket 4. The saddle portion 3 may be inwardly bent as shown in section, Fig. 3, to provide a line contact so that both lateral and vertical oscillation of the bracket is permitted. The lower end of the bracket is bent to form a half sleeve bearing 5 in which the roller shaft is retained by a spring 7. Loading pressure is supplied by a spring 11 between the carrier 1 and an abutment 10 on the bracket 4. Two wing portions 8 may be bent upwardly from the bracket to engage with a stop 9 when the carrier 1 is lifted so that the bracket may be raised also. In a modification, Fig. 4, the saddle 3 comprises one upwardly and two downwardly bent claws which may closely embrace the pivot pin 2 to prevent lateral oscillation or of which the downwardly bent claws do not fit the pin 2 closely so that lateral oscillation is permitted. In a further modification, Fig. 6, the bracket 4 has enlarged side portions 17 which make contact with flanges 18 on the carrier 1 when the carrier is raised. In another modification, Fig. 10, two springs 11 may be seated on the bracket 4 and the bracket may be raised together with the carrier 1 by means of contacting lip members 22 and 25. A modification of the spring means for retaining the top roller in position is shown in Fig. 12 and comprises two finger pieces 26 and 29 which may be pressed together to release the top roller shaft. The carrier may be locked in an operative position by the means described in Specification 735,036.
