Abstract

689,471. Spinning spindle bearings. T.M.M. (RESEARCH), Ltd., and WESTALL, A. May 18, 1951 [May 25, 1950], No. 13164/50. Class 12 (i). A spinning spindle 16 is supported in the spindle rail or carrier bracket 10 by two opposed springs 20, 21, the spring 20 being compressed between the underside of the bracket 10 and an adjustable abutment 27 on the lower end of the bolster 14, whilst the spring 21 is compressed between a shoulder 22 on the upper part of the bolster and a collar 23 which is slidable on the bolster and is arranged to bear equally on a resilient annular packing 24 housed in the spindle bracket 10 and a second adjustable abutment 25 on the bolster. The abutments 25, 27 are screw-threaded on the bolster and locked in position by nuts 26, 28. In a modification a third spring 30, Fig. 2, is arranged between the member 23 and abutment 25. In a further modification, the spring 21 may seat at its upper end against a resilient packing-ring located in the underside of the member 10. A collar such as that indicated at 23 may also be interposed between the spring and packing- ring. Specification 329,485, [Class 12 (i)], is referred to.
