Abstract

621,288. Bearings. SPINDELMOTORENUNDMASCHINENFABRIKAKT.-GES. Feb. 13, 1947, No. 4185. Convention date, Feb. 25, 1946. [Class 12 (i)] In a high-speed textile spindle, the head of the suspended bearing sleeve 3 is connected to the spindle housing 4 by a resilient disc 6, the inside rim of which is peened at 7 into bearing sleeve 3 and the outer rim supported on a narrow annular seat 4a on spindle housing 4. A narrow rim on a ring 8 bears against the outer rim of disc 6 and members 6, 8 are clamped in position by a sleeve 9 screwed on the housing 4. Thus, bearing sleeve 3 is radially fixed concentric to the spindle axis, but may oscillate in an axial direction due to the flexibility of the disc 6 which has concentric segmental slots to facilitate its deflection. Excessive downward movement of the bearing sleeve is prevented by engagement of a shoulder 3c of the bearing sleeve head with the upper face of ring 8. Damping rings or springs are disposed around the foot of the bearing sleeve. In a modification, the member 6 may be peened in a bush which is a press fit in the spindle housing. The bush may be conically tapered or axially split so as to be radially spreadable. A plurality of stacked disc-like members may be employed.
