Abstract
678,809. Resilient mountings. WAUGH EQUIPMENT CO. May 15, 1951 [Aug. 15, 1950], No. 11319/51. Class 108(iii) In a mount for absorbing vibration and shock between an object and a fixed support therefor, which comprises a base suitable for attachment to the support, a head member suitable for rigid attachment to the object above the base and cushioning means interposed between the base and head member, the base has an upward projection, the head has a downward extension in telescoping relation to the projection and spaced laterally therefrom, a cushioning unit is interposed between the bottom of the head member within the extension and the top of the projection, a second cusioning unit lies on top of the head member, a third cushioning unit is interposed between the projection on the base and the extension on the head member, the third cushioning unit being spaced from the first and from the bottom of the head member within the extension therefrom, a plate rests on top of the second cushioning unit, and the plate and projection are connected by means preventing an increase in their separation. In the arrangement shown, a flanged base 10 is formed with an upwardly extending cylindrical projection 14 which is closed by a plate 15. A flanged head member 16 which is formed with a cylindrical skirt 21 which telescopes over the projection 14 is formed with a cavity 20 which houses a single rubber spring 26 surmounted by a plate 27. A pair of rubber springs 22 separated by a metal disc 23 is disposed between the head member 16 and the plate 15 and rubber and metal sleeves 33 and 34 respectively are interposed between the skirt 21 and the projection 14, the sleeve 33 being bonded to the projection 14 and the metal sleeve 34, which latter is in sliding contact with the projection 14. The base and head member are secured together by a bolt 28 with metal and rubber washers 31 and 32 respectively between the bolt head and the plate 15.
