799,144. Axle box mountings. SPENCER, MOULTON & CO., Ltd., G. May 17, 1956 [May 17, 1955; March 19, 1956], Nos. 14215/55 and 8498/55. Class 103(6) An axle box mounting for railway rolling stock comprises a compression spring unit consisting of a column of rubber springs 10 located on top of the axle box 4 and between horns 2, 3 of the axle box guides. The rubber springs in the form of five oval rubber rings, Fig. 4, are bonded between upper and lower plates 11 and 12 and have central spigots 17, 21 on plates 16, 20 respectively to locate the rings and to form a limiting-stop regulating overload conditions. An annular spring skirt 22 gives additional alignment and protection to the rubber rings.
