Abstract
734,193. Mechanical switches, without quick action. SACKVILLE, Ltd., and ATWATER, A. E. June 3, 1953 [March 3, 1952], No. 5475/52. Class 38 (5). A switch for controlling a motor cycle headlamp comprises a tubular twist grip 1 rotatably mounted on a handle-bar 2 and supporting a drum 4 having an external groove receiving an arcuate contact 5 biased by a spring 6. The contact 5 co-operates with fixed contacts 12, 13, 14 mounted in an insulating split ring 11 supported by a two-part clamp 19, 20 which grips the handle-bar 2 by tightening screws 21. A sleeve 24 screwed into the clamp part 19 is received by the split in the ring 11 and accommodates a compression spring which biases a ball 27 to engage a recess 8, 9 or 10 in the groove of the drum, recess 10 corresponding to the " off " position of the switch and recesses 8, 9 to positions in which the contacts 13, 14 and contacts 12, 13 are bridged by the contact 5.
