Abstract
616,053. Snap-action switches. ELECTRICAL & GENERAL ACCESSORIES (LEICESTER), Ltd., and NICHOLLS, G. E. Aug. 23, 1946, No. 25159. [Class 38 (v)] In a switch having an operating lever 1 and movable contact arm 7, co-pivoted at 6, and a dead-centre spring 10 between a pin 11 on the lever 1 and a lug 12 on the arm 7, positive actuation in both directions is provided by a rocking member 13 which is pivoted at one end to the pin 11 and provided at its other end with a projection 14 engaging a guide-slot 15 in a fixed bracket 16. As the lever 1 rocks the member 13, one or other of a pair of lugs 17, 18, according to the direction, positively moves the contact arm before the spring 10 reaches dead-centre. The arm 7 may be flared at 20 to acclerate its movement by camming action. The member 13 may alternatively be slotted at its lower end to receive a fixed guide-pin, Fig. 9 (not shown).
