Abstract
733,998. Pneumatic conveyers. BUHLER, GEB. Dec. 16, 1953 [Dec. 16, 1952], No. 35038./53. Class 78 (1). In a conveyer system in which the feeding of material into the pipe-line is regulated in accordance with variations in pressure in the system, the feed is regulated by a pivoted member 12, Fig. 1, the position of which is dependent on the difference in pressure at the points 17, 18 of the system. The member 12 is pivoted on the outlet of a storage container 14 and is connected by a link 11 to a diaphragm 10 separating the chambers 8, 9 of a control device 7. These chambers are connected by pipes 6, 5 to the points 18, 17. A diaphragm 20, which separates the chamber 9 from a chamber 21, contains an aperture which can be closed by a cover 19 connected to the link 11. When the diaphragm 10 moves to the left to close the member 12, the aperture in the diaphragm 20 becomes uncovered and a rapid equalization of pressure takes place in the chambers 9, 21. The movement of the member 12 is thus accelerated. When the diaphragm 10 moves to the right and the cover 19 seats on the diaphragm 20, the opening movement of the member 12 is retarded. In a modification, Fig. 2, the inlet 24 of the system 25, contains a pivoted flap 27 having a weighted arm 28. When the system is not under suction, the flap is forced to the left by the weight 28 and the air inlet 29 is closed. When suction is applied to the system, the flap 27 moves to the right and air entering at 29 carries the material upwards.
