Abstract

1,161,697. Pneumatic conveyers. HENRY SIMON Ltd. 25 Oct., 1967 [2 Nov., 1966], No. 49143/66. Heading B8A. In a pneumatic conveying duct 1 connecting the vertical outlet of a machine with a source of suction, an adjustable inlet port 15 is provided upstream of a converging section 3 of the duct to admit additional air into the duct to entrain granular material therein which has not been entrained by the conveying air passing from the machine. The converging section 3 and a bend section 4 of the duct 1 have a rectangular crosssection, the base of the section 3 incorporating a door 14 pivotally hinged at 7. The door 14 is adjustably set through screw 12, spring 11 and lever arm 10 to open when a predetermined load of granular material settles thereon due to any fault in the conveying system. In the embodiment of Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), the material outlet door extends part way around the bend in the duct.
