Abstract
733,340. Locking nuts and bayonet &c. fastenings. ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd. Dec. 23, 195.2 [Dec. 24, 1951]. No. 30175/51. Classes 44 and 89(1). [Also in Groups XI and XXIII] Means for locking two parts that screw together is desdescribed with reference to a burner construction and is stated to be applicable also to locking parts assembled by a bayonet joint or other means involving relative rotation. A sleeve 12 holds one or more burner nozzle parts 11 against the body 10 by a flange 17 engaged by an internal flange 19 on a cap nut 13 screwed to the body at 22 and provided with longitudinal corrugations 24. The body has a series of circumferentially spaced holes 32. A sleeve 33 overlaps the body and cap nut and has a series of holes 34 spaced to correspond with the holes 32, at least one of the holes 34 being of the same diameter as holes 32 and the rest of less diameter. The larger hole serves to pass a clamping spindle to hold the body during covering up by a C-spanner engaging the corrugations 24. To effect a lock one of the smaller holes is flanged down into the corresponding hole in the body. More than one hole may be flanged. The lock is completed by punching down the edge of the sleeve to engage one or more of the corrugations 24.
