Abstract
780,876. Locking nuts. BLACK, R. H., and ROSS, J. G. Feb. 22, 1955, No. 5260/55. Class 89(1) A lock-nut comprises two interfitting sheet metal parts 14, 15, Fig. 5, each having an outer polygonal-wall 16, 20, respectively, tightly engaged one within the other, part 14 having an inner cylindrical well 17 with internal screw threads 19 and being connected to well 16 by a curved well 18. The part 20 has tabs 27, Fig. 1, with threads 23 on the same pitch and lead as the threads 19 but of smaller diameter. The tabs frictionally engage the threads 11 of a co-acting bolt 10, and when well 18 is pressed against a face of a part clamped by the bolt it is deformed to cause well 17 to be pressed against threads 11.
