Abstract
872,733. Locking-nuts. DOERR, F. Nov. 22, 1957 [Nov. 23, 1956], No. 36483/57. Class 89(1). [Also in Group XXVIII] A lock-nut of the kind comprising an internally-screwed part 1, Fig. 1, with a slotted conical extension 2, Fig. 2, a hollow conical lower part 5 surrounding extension 2, a head 7, flange etc. on one part engaging the other part to hold, the parts together, and a metal spring 12, e.g. an open corrugated ring, located in a recess in either or recesses in both parts. The conical surfaces of extension 2 and part 5 may include cylindrical portions 20, 201. In use, part 1 is turned relatively to part 5 to compress spring 12 and contract extension 2 on to a bolt 9, rod, pipe &c. threadedly-engaging part 1. Both parts 1, 5, may be internally screwed, and in another arrangement, extension 2, Fig. 10, has a shoulder 23 engaging spring 12 to hold parts 1, 5 together, and spring 12 is held in part 5 by an inturned flange 21.
