Abstract
733,203. Hinges &c. ELECTRIC DEPOT, Ltd., and BILL, E. H. Nov. 26, 1953 [Nov. 27, 1952], No. 30044/52. Class 65(2). In an adjustable pivotal joint, for lamp brackets or the like, of the kind in which the parts are held in adjusted position by spring-pressed catch means, an engagement ring is non-rotatably fixed to a head on each bracket member by means of lugs and notches. In the joint shown, for connecting two members 1 to a member 1a, the head of each member is bored to receive a pivot pin 3 and is provided with lugs 8 at its periphery to fit notches in an engagement ring 5 or 6, whereby the ring is prevented from rotation relatively to the head. Each ring 5 has a number of holes spaced round it, and each ring 6 has several round projections to engage the holes in the adjacent ring 5 to hold the parts in the desired position, the members being pressed together by springs 12 ; the ring 6 has a flange fitting in the ring 5. The heads may be castings with split lugs for clamping on the ends of tubular bracket members.
